Event Details

Nearly 13 million babies, or about 10% of total worldwide births, are born prematurely each year.  Nearly one million infants die each year as a result of pre-term birth, or about 28% of all deaths that occur within the first month of life.

When a baby is born extremely premature, parents find their world turned upside down, sometimes faced with life and death decisions, while facing an uncertain future for their baby. Experts are just beginning to understand the intense psychological effects that a premature birth has on the parents.

We are launching the first-ever Parents of Preemies Day to continue to build support for parents by recognizing the courage and commitment it takes to stay strong and resilient when premature birth turns a family's world upside down.

Recognizing Parents of Preemies

We are delivering thousands of NICU care packages designed specifically for the parents of premature babies to every level 3 Newborn Intensive Care Unit in the United States and Canada.

We are creating a Hope, Resilience & Miracles banner that will be unveiled on Parents of Preemies Day, showcasing all of the pictures of parents and their preemies and their messages of Hope, Resilience & Miracles submitted on our Parents of Preemies Day Facebook Page.

We are recognizing the parents of preemies and the organizations and professionals that support these parents during the most critical time of their life, from birth through early childhood.

As part of the Parents of Preemies day initiative, we will be hosting a FREE community event where local organizations will be on hand to provide support and relevant resource information. Parents of children who were born premature, their families (including children!) and anyone else interested in learning more about the journey of parenting a preemie is welcome to attend.

Resource topics available include: Children's yoga, social workers and case managers, preschool screening, life coaches, counseling, grief support, equine therapy, in home nursing support, stress relief, NICU nurses, medical specialists and professionals and more.

Graham's Foundation

Graham's Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit founded in 2009 by Jennifer and Nick Hall in memory of their son, Graham. Its mission is to offer both practical and emotional support to parents of extremely premature babies. The foundation supports the parents by sending care packages to them during their journey in the NICU, and the foundation’s website provides a place for parents to share their stories and find support.
